| "We
thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that, too.
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in His keeping
We have you in our Heart."

was a Cub Scout,
Awana Cubbie, as well as a soccer and football player. He loved
skateboarding,
bicycle riding and motorcycles, just to mention a few. Although
his life ended at
the very young age of 19, his love for all people, his smile,

Dennis' mother wrote the following tribute in English and
Spanish:
Loving son of mine:
Dennis, we are going to miss you so much. You were the laughter,
the joy, the life of this house. When you would enter through
the front door your first words were “Mami, mamita.” Every time
you would look at me your eyes would glisten with happiness
just to see me, and to know that you were in your home with
your brothers and sisters. You would fill the whole house from
corner to corner with your energy.Dennis was always resolving
problems in ways that would benefit everyone, always keeping
the peace between us so that we would all get along. Dennis’
greatest love was the love he had for his nieces and nephews.
It was with them that he learned how to be a great uncle, responsible
until death. How lovely you were, my love. No one will ever be
able to fill this space that you have left in our hearts. We
can only give thanks to God and hope that one day, not too far
from now, we will all be with you in the presence of God (2
Corinthians 5:1-9, Job 1:21). Naked I came from my mother's
womb and naked I shall leave, Jehova gave and Jehova shall take
away, in Jesus blessed name.
Amado
hijo mio:

John Michael Conant
D.O.B.: July
12, 1971
D.O.D.: April
10, 2008
Branch:
U.S. Army
John
Michael Conant was born on a Monday to Robert A. and Katherine
(Palmer) Conant in Jacksonville, Ill. This precious gift
from God was welcomed by his parents and older brother,
Rob. Eventually, John would have two younger brothers, Tim
and Andrew, who have followed in his military footsteps.
From
the very beginning, John was very bright, inquisitive, resourceful,
and stubborn. He loved animals, especially his mini dachshunds
(Sandy, Maggie and Lizzie), music from Beethoven to Kiss,
sports, reading (the Bible, Stephen King), and his country.
He was active in Cub Scouts, receiving the "Arrow of
Light" honor. He participated in basketball, football,
T -ball, track, and his favorite, soccer.
In junior
and senior high school, his vocal music and dance talents
were awakened in theatre productions of "On the Rock,"
"Guys and Dolls" and "Fiddler on the Roof."
He enjoyed traveling -- seeing God's beautiful creation.
But
more than anything, he loved time spent with family and
especially his maternal grandparents. His grandfather had
been an Army medic at Guadalcanal during WWII. His grandmother
was an Army WAC, also serving in WWII. Her mother, John's
great- grandmother, served as an Army nurse in France during
WWI.
They were so proud of John when he decided to serve his
country in the military, particularly in the United States
Army. With his A.A. degree in criminal justice from College
of the Canyons in Valencia, Calif., John had hoped to be
an MP, and later a lawyer with JAG. However, with his early
enlistment, there were no MP slots available. Nevertheless,
he was grateful to serve his country.
After
basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and ALT at Fort
Sam Houston, Tex., John married the love of his life, Delrina
F. Conant. Married life began at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Soon after, he was deployed to Haiti.
Later,
he would serve two tours of duty in Iraq, including Operation
Iraqi Freedom. War changed John into a very private person,
but he still maintained his love for his wife, his family,
and his country.
God called him home on Thursday, April 10, 2008. He is truly
missed by his family and friends.
