This is a beautifully produced book that has terrific basic information. Of course, every region has its challenges, but this is a nice addition to any gardener’s library.

If you are looking for a good book to dive into all the questions that you need answered than this is not the book for you.. The pictures are beautiful, however they often do not cotain the names of the plants used in the designs. There is a handful of your run of the mill plants, roses, tropicals and vegetables. This book is good if you are looking for a lot of basic information fast. It does talk generally about composting and winterizing and preparing your beds. It also discusses pests, soil types, watering, fertilizer and dividing (extremely general). If you are an avid gardner this is not the book for you.

The other reviewers are right – this is a basic book with beautiful photos and will appeal to new gardeners. Not many innovative looks or exciting ideas. The reason I’d by this book is because my garden is in it on pp. 22, 37, 210, 302, and 305.
